Sauron eye Sauron Overview

Sauron provides logging, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and operational workflows for Oracle service teams. A Sauron instance gives your team managed endpoints for common observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, Alertmanager, OpenSearch, OpenSearch Dashboards, and the Sauron API.

A Sauron instance provides the endpoints described below. Sauron typically creates and maintains two instances (dev and prod) for each service team in their preferred OCI regions. A Sauron instance is composed of multiple pods within a Kubernetes cluster. Sauron is available across supported public OCI regions and is made available in newer OCI regions over time.

Send metrics or debug missing metrics Sending Metrics Yes for scrape config, PushProx client setup, and first metric checks.
Send logs or debug missing logs Sending Logs Yes for client setup and first log ingestion checks.
Create Grafana dashboards Create Grafana Dashboards Yes if your Sauron access allows the dashboard action.
Define alert rules, routes, or receivers Defining Alerts Yes for rule and route changes; some integrations need Sauron-team enablement.
Scrape from restricted networks Shuttleproxy and Sending Metrics Yes for client setup and validation after the needed proxy path is enabled.
